Frequently Asked Questions

Can I work while holding a Student Visa in Italy?
Yes, but with strict limitations. Italian law permits international students to work up to **20 hours per week** (part-time) and a maximum of 1,040 hours per year. This allows students to supplement their income, though it is not intended to be the primary means of supporting their studies.
Can I stay in Italy after I graduate?
Yes. Upon graduating with an accredited Italian bachelor's, master's, or PhD degree, you are eligible to convert your student permit into a **Permesso di Soggiorno per Ricerca Lavoro (Job Seeker Permit)**, valid for up to 12 months. During this time, you can legally reside in Italy to find employment or start a business. Upon finding a job or starting a business, you can convert it to a full Work Permit (*Lavoro Subordinato* or *Lavoro Autonomo*) outside the annual quota system.
What if I withdraw from my studies?
Your residence permit is strictly tied to your active student status. You must pass a minimum number of exams per academic year (usually 1 or 2) to successfully renew your permit. Withdrawing from studies leads to the invalidation of the student permit.
