Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring my family?
No. Seasonal work permits in Austria do not allow for family reunification.
Can I switch to a permanent RWR Card?
Generally, no. You must leave Austria at the end of your contract. Permanent immigration requires a separate application for a 'Highly Skilled' or 'Shortage' role.
What is the benefit of Stamm-Saisonnier status?
It gives you prioritized access. Employers can hire you without checking if an Austrian candidate is available, making you much more 'marketable' for recurring seasonal work.
Is insurance covered?
Yes. While you are working, you are covered by the ASVG social security system, which includes health and accident insurance.
When should I apply?
For winter tourism, start applying in August/September. For summer tourism, February/March is the peak recruitment window.
