Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between FSW and CEC?
The **Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)** program is for those with high-skilled experience outside Canada. The **Canadian Experience Class (CEC)** is for those who have at least 1 year of high-skilled work experience *inside* Canada within the last 3 years.
What are 'Category-Based Draws'?
Since 2023, IRCC has the authority to invite candidates based on specific categories rather than just CRS score. Current priorities include **Healthcare, STEM, Trades, Transport, and Agriculture**, along with **strong French-language proficiency**.
How long is my Express Entry profile valid?
Your profile remains active in the pool for 12 months. If you do not receive an ITA within that time, your profile expires, and you must create a new one to remain in consideration.
Can I apply for Express Entry if I am over 40?
Yes, but CRS points for age decline rapidly after 30 and drop to zero at 45. Candidates over 40 typically need exceptionally high language scores, a Master's/PhD, or a Provincial Nomination (PNP) to remain competitive.
