Frequently Asked Questions
Can I switch from Elective Residency to a Work Permit later?
Generally, no. Converting an Elective Residency permit to a work permit in Italy is extremely difficult and usually not permitted without leaving the country and entering a new quota cycle. This visa is intended for those who do not intend to enter the labor market.
Does this lead to Citizenship?
Yes. Like most Italian residence permits, time spent on an Elective Residency permit counts toward the 10-year residency requirement for Italian citizenship by naturalization.
