Frequently Asked Questions
Does my spouse need a separate work pass?
Yes. Spouses of EP holders must apply for their own work pass (e.g., EP, S Pass, or Work Permit) to work in Singapore. They are no longer eligible for a Letter of Consent (LOC) unless they are business owners.
Can I bring my family?
Yes, if you earn at least **S$6,000** per month. You can sponsor Dependant's Passes (DP) for your spouse and unmarried children under 21. For parents, you need a minimum salary of **S$12,000** (Long-Term Visit Pass).
What happens if I change jobs?
Your new employer must apply for a fresh EP for you. Your current EP will be cancelled once the new one is issued. You do not need to leave Singapore during this transition.
How long is the EP valid for?
First-time applicants usually receive a pass for up to 2 years. Renewals can be granted for up to 3 years.
What is the SOL Bonus?
If your job is on the Shortage Occupation List (e.g., Cyber Security, ESG Specialist), you earn an additional **20 bonus points** towards your COMPASS score, significantly easing the approval path.
