Frequently Asked Questions
Can I work while looking for a job?
No. The 'Job Seeker' permit does not grant the right to work. Once you find a job, you must apply for a regular work permit and have it granted before you start working.
Can I bring my family?
No. Family members cannot join you on a job seeker permit. They can only apply for family reunification once you have secured a regular work permit.
Is this permit renewable?
No. This is a one-time permit. If you don't find work within the granted time, you must leave Sweden.
Do I need a Swedish ID?
No. You will not receive a Personnummer on this permit. You will receive a residence card but will remain 'temporarily resident'.
What if I find a job just as my permit expires?
If you apply for a regular work permit *before* your job seeker permit expires, you can remain in Sweden while the new application is processed (but you still cannot work until it is granted).
