Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring my family?
Yes. Spouses and children under 21 can join you. Spouses are granted a residence permit with full work rights.
What if my employer is not certified?
You can still apply, but be prepared for significantly longer processing times (up to a year). Certified status is a massive advantage.
Does the salary floor apply to part-time work?
Yes. The SEK 28,480 threshold is absolute. Even if you work part-time, your monthly income must still reach this amount to qualify.
Can I change employers?
During the first 24 months, your permit is tied to a specific employer and profession. If you change jobs, you must apply for a new permit.
Is there a language requirement?
Not for the initial work permit. However, new rules for Permanent Residence and Citizenship (expected 2025/2026) may introduce Swedish language thresholds.
