Frequently Asked Questions

Can I operate as a sole proprietor (Auto-Entrepreneur)?
Yes, but with caveats. The 'Talent - Créateur d'entreprise' permit allows you to set up commercial companies (SAS, SARL) or operate as a self-employed individual. However, meeting the €30,000 investment requirement as a basic freelancer is often difficult. True solo-freelancers with zero capital usually apply for the standard 'Profession Libérale' visa instead, which is heavily scrutinized.
Do I need a French partner or co-founder?
No. You can own 100% of the equity in your newly established French entity. A French partner is not legally required.
Are my family members covered?
Yes. The prized advantage of all 'Talent' permits is the accompanying 'Talent (Famille)' status. Your spouse may work full-time as an employee in France while you build your business.
